In one sentence
A Testkit is the box a customer receives for a test, containing the collection device, the tubes or card, the instructions, an identifier and a return envelope. It is the physical product your customer holds in their hands.
A Testkit is everything a customer needs in order to collect and return a sample, packed into one box. The contents decide how likely a usable sample is, which makes the kit a quality question rather than a packaging question.
Every kit carries an identifier that connects the returned sample to the order, and that identifier is where most of the integration work between two systems happens. A kit also has a shelf life because tubes and additives age, which means stock has to be rotated rather than stored until somebody needs it.
Ask a supplier what is in the box and who assembled it.
- What exactly is inside the kit, and who has approved the instruction leaflet?
- Who assembles the kits, and under which quality system is that assembly done?
- How is the identifier printed, and is it linked to an order before shipping?
- What is the shelf life of a packed kit, and who monitors the stock?
